Archives - The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

by David Edgar
Adapted from the novel by R L Stevenson

Directed by Jan Palmer Sayer

Friday 28th April – Saturday 6th May 1995 in the Auditorium

Set in the foggy atmosphere of Victorian England, this chilling adaptation of R.L. Stevenson’s novel has us on the edge of our seats. Jekyll, obsessed with discovering the truth behind his father’s theories, discovers his ‘alter ego’ in the form of the murderer, Edward Hyde. The tussle between the two is an absorbing and eventually physical one as the split central roles struggle for possession of their shared body.

From the same stable as Nicholas Nickleby, this version by David Edgar was first presented by the RSC in 1991 and described as a theatrical feast.
